Day 38 - Monday 20 Novemeber
Ohh it's been too long since we did an update! And the reason? We bought a new 'toy' and spent a few weeks learning/playing with it
In order to make room for our new "toy" we had to seriously revamp the workshop. Like a muppet I forgot to take a picture of the workshop before we sorted it out but here's what we did:
As we needed to clear this area:
Then remove all that c**p. I decided it'd be a good idea to give that area an extra coating of ronseal stuff
Then we went and installed our new 'toy'...
And being airsofters we were first and foremost concerned about doing 14mm negative/left-hand thread tongue.gif Which we did on a test peice of nylon bar:
:D
For a laugh I found a picture of the workshop taken back in July, it's funny to see just how much changed (before the lathe was installed) :D
So back to the M2.... last time we'd taken the M2 out into the field and fired a good 5000 to 6000 rounds out of it. At which point we were able to see some issues developing; the recoil in the gun is so much that every screw and nut needs to be loclite'd in place and in some places that appears not to be enough. In the field one of our rollerbearings dropped out and we were unable to find it again :/
With a missing rollerbearing we decide that we should make a quick one out of brass, so I get ready to knock one out on the lathe (any excuse) :)
Cleaning up the screws poking out the sides
The new brass rollerbearing goes in
Ok now, we're very very very sorry. We decided to take a shortcut: we want the M2 ready for next game but it's a bit odd without a rear sight. We will be making the proper rear sight but in the meantime (we're so sorry) we stuck a RIS rail on the back. Sorry.
Which with an RDS on it works quite well... alarming!
Mind you, once you've bolted on one RIS rail and accessory, why stop at one?
Just kidding :P
We do some modifications to the ammo box
And pretty soon it's sorted
She's now battle ready for next game where we intend to "test" fire it a lot more :D
(I took the cocking handle off so it could be stained)
