Day 24 - Saturday 4th August
We got in some wood for the handles, they're not the right shape but they'll have to do - we've no lathe at the moment.
We had an interesting time drilling the hole right through, none of the drill bits were long enough so we had to take more time with measuring and some jiggery with the pillar drill, got there in the end:

A bit of woodstain and they're left to dry:
Some welding, bending, pulling & hammering; the first tricky bit of the feed cover is almost done:
After a lot more of the above MadDog completes 2 (out of 4) of the corner peices. Also polished the metal down. While he was doing that I was roughly working in the bit where the front sight goes which still needs some touching up:
Next build we'll complete the feed cover and do a bit more on the mount - we want the mount to hold the ammo tin so when that's done we'll start on the feed system. We also want the mount to be biased so if the gunner leaves the gun it will tilt backwards but at the same time we want it to be quite nicely balanced so the gunner doesn't have to "fight" it.
