Day 11 - Friday 6th of April

Actually Thursday was mostly spent debating: We needed to properly detail out the barrel assembly - we need the barrel to detach for transport/storage but part of the barrel support needs to act as a stop plate for the entire barrel & tappet plate. A bushing around the inner barrel was ruled out after some debate, we had to affix the inner barrel and support it while keeping it separate of the outer barrel.

In the end we decided to have a "mid-barrel". The idea being being that the mid-barrel would be welded to the stop plate then the actual 6mm inner barrel would be housed in the mid-barrel - trust me it made sense ;)

Friday we went shopping... proper bloke style; soon as we hit B&Q we went straight to look at the power tools :P After escaping the siren-powertools we found an 8mm ID tube to act as our mid-barrel, some clear plastic tubing for the BB feed and of course we got some propane. Being a bank holiday we thought we'd try our luck with a few shops but not a lot was open - we really needed some better recoil springs! Just as we were turning away from an automotive shop some guy said "can I help you?" - some chatting later we were let into the shop to look for springs...which was really nice as they were shut for refitting. We found some springs and gleefully headed back.

The new return springs installed:

These have almost doubled the ROF seen in the last video :D

Welding the mid-barrel to the stop-plate:

Was interesting setting up for the weld! We had to do some odd G-clamping - sadly forgot to take pictures of all that, just the welding of it.

The stop-plate and mid-barrel in place. We put the inner-barrel and P90 hop-up unit in as well:

Constructing the Nozzle block, used an old AUG nozzle I had knocking around

The nozzle block assembled:

The feed dog-plate

This will be dragged back by the tappet plate then released before the tappet plate reaches full-travel. It'll return into position by it's own spring loading a BB into the chamber - the idea being is that we're not ramming in BBs into the chamber from the force of the tappet plate reciprocating so if theres a jam nothing bad will happen.
